The high-set beam ofered the opportunity to raise the cabin level without making the profile look clumsey. Vee-berth, twin quater bertths, cooker, sink and dinnette round out the interior. The 'cat-walk' is a by product of the narrow cabin top and allows effortless access from aft to the bow. Full headroom in the blister and a cavernous storage area under the cockpit.
The cat-walk is one of our favourite aspects of the deck design. RAW's narrow cabin line creates this walkway space that offers unobstructed access from stern to bow. Going forward even in a seaway is much more comfortable. Crew really like this aspect when they have to run forward to work on the front deck.
The Airplay 30 folds up without fuss for road trailering and introduces state of the art high buoyancy floats, high beam clearance for good performance in a seaway, and generous overall beam for stability. The forward daggerboard lies ahead of the mast so it can fully retracted without lowering the mast. The beams are gently curved and wide enough for comfortable sitting and to provide a safe access when boarding.
Folded up, RAW is a compact package. But please remember, when she's folded she's narrow but still REALLY tall. If you had to leave RAW in a marina completely folded you are advised to secure the cap shrouds to a secure point. The 14m Marstrom mast is a wing section. As a wing section, it generates power constantly. RAW's shallow draft and folded beam could mean that she might lay down if left unattended. We highly recommend leaving one float unfolded when you visit tight marinas.
Here's video of the fold/unfold process.
